Hi guys am a newby to the wedge fraternity, having recently bought my 1st (im sure there will be more) wedge ! a 350i ! am very pleased with my purchase (especially after replacing bushes, calipers, tyres, and of course the stereo)! the one thing that eludes me is replacement verneer ! mines poo ! i would be happy to go for aluminium or chrome in its place, but after trawling the many websites out there i am nun the wiser ! and would appreciate any help or advise ! As i think its so important to keep these awesome pieces of tvr history looking their best. can anybody help?

Hello Tribbster - welcome to the Wedge fraternity - you will surely have a great deal of fun in your car. There is a veneer specialist that advertises on this site just above the forum - it was there when I read your message! I'm sorry I didn't catch the link for you - but just watch and it comes up with an ad for veneers for Aston Martin, Jag etc. and TVR! There might also be an ad in the 'Links' section.

cheers!

Hi there and welcome, on my 350 I stripped the wood of all the surfaces to leave the bare metal that the wood is bonded on, I then had the glovebox and dials black chromed with the switch panel and door trims normal chrome.

Came out really well and still looks good after 3 years, probably cost about £80 at your local chromers.

Now need to do it on my 4?0 over the winter as removed the wood, sanded the metal and just lacquared it temporaily (5 months ago !)to stop going rusty

Had a few veneers done over the years, if you decide not to go the diy route I would thoroughly recommend Malcolm at London Carriage Craft, he recently completed all the veneer in my 400 - even did the door handles which were previously leather, where possible he uses the same veneer thoroughout to ensure the grain matches and also finishes off the backings with a matt black which continues around the bezels.. it's this attention to detail which makes the finished product that much better..

Tribbster, Welcome.
Links to piccies of the carbon dash I put in my SEAC earlier this year. I removed the veneer down to the metal and sent it off to Tim Lamont at ACT who did the Carbon work. The only thing I would do differently is to get Tim to laquer it and then I'd fit some Leven Chrome bezels.
Cheers,
TaS

FT,
Did a good deal with Tim as the first dash he'd done but for a standard job it'd be well South of the £300 for the Veneer that Tribsters been quoted. I had heard folks could get Veneer done for around £220 and the carbon job should be around the £200 mark.
