My areal has not worked from day one of ownership.
I started to have a look and it appears that the power and switch wires are both dead, (no signal).
Yes I have turned the stereo on.
I am at a bit of a loss, Does the cable have a fuse that is not in the fuse box? the fuse box does not show any fuse for electrical areal. Can any one put any words of wisdom in my diretion?

Thanks

The fuse for the aerial is #59 same as the hazards or that damn buzzer.
The 12v goes to one side of the middle of the switch with an earth going to the other side of the middle.
The wiring on the upper and lower of the switch going to the aerial is reversed so that it will send the aerial up or down.
I haven't explained it very well.
NB. it is electrically independent of the radio on a convertable car.
Look for a purple between hazard switch and aerial switch it may just have fallen off. (or may have been taken off by P.O. because the aerial was seized!)

I dont think this one has a manual switch, I am using the switch of the stereo. The wire from the stereo (wire loom) is the same colour as that in the boot. But there is no power to either of the wires.

Sorry I couldn't help, I notice your car is an 88 model. Mine has a switch to the right of the left window switch.
Maybe somebody with a later car will see this post.
