I need to get a roll over bar fitted to the wedge and whilst there have been a few previous posts I can't seem to find a decent picture of a fitted Tower View / Rollcentre bar.

There are a few of the Peninsular bar along with a few comments about noise - does the TV / RC bar also give noise issues ?

What would be great is to see shots of each type fitted from side on and rear three quarter so if anyone has any pics please could they post / email me.

Thanks.

Chunder,

I have been thinking of fitting one on the 450 also. After talking to a few people however they all seem to give the impression that the noise and vibration (on top of the noise of the car of course!) of the pipework can be very intrusive even with the tubes filled with poly foam.

Anybody got a roll bar fitted care to comment??

My insurance co said no to insuring me if I fitted one ! Yet they insure me for track days ??

So I can only go for a style type bar, which may or may not give me some protection in a roll over, depending on how I eventually get it made - a la TT stylee

Got a full cage in the 520... the engine noise makes any other noise insignificant...

Ive got a tower view roll bar fitted on my 400. Unfortunatley the car is at peninsula and I dont have any decent pics on file that show the roll bar to post.

I have to agree with the issue about extra noise. When the hood is up it is really quite noisy, but when the hood is down you cant hear it at all.

But there is a pic on Steve H's site with a Griff on its roof. Still has me cringing. Will get one eventually.

Oh forgot to say, not that much change from a £900 to be supplied and fitted by Towerview and that was 18 months ago .
Made the car feel really solid though

Thanks for the help - the Tower View one looks good and black would suit my car (no offence to those that have alternatives).

Mind you - 900 quid

I have had a guy here quote the equivalent of 300 quid + fitting so I will have to give Tower View a call on supply and shipping.

If anyone has one fitted and can't stand the noise anymore I may be able to help

I need to fit one together with harnesses for an event I have entered (www.targawest.com.au/). Long time off yet but should be an experience !

Have you thought about making your own? I bought the hoop from the roll centre (unfinished) and then made the rest. I think my car will be different to yours though, as it's an 83 Tasmin. I'll post some pics if you are interested.

I don't have the skill or equipment to make my own - I have tried one guy to make it for me but with the need to spend half a day measuring up and forming the suspension brackets it makes it expensive.

If I had the technical drawings/spec of the Tower View set up (can anyone help with that ?) I am sure I can get it made here for a lot less, especially as shipping something that size is going to cost plenty.

A pic would be interesting.

The whole design is copyright Tower View as they paid for all the design work.... I don't think they would look kindly on anyone ripping them off...

There are quite a few pix in the group history of my Peninsula Bar. Its colour coded to match the bodywork.

It does produce a lot of transmission noice when running with the roof up. (you will get this whatever bar you fix).

If you want more pix of my Bar... drop me a bell

Fair enough - but any bar would pick up the rear suspension mounts and outrigger I guess and be of the same basic design and shape - as it would be if I go ahead and get someone to make me one from scratch.

Not looking to rip anyone off - least of all Tower View.

Of course then there could be the press coverage, mananagement consultantcy which would reuire a team of dedicated people to support....

Talk to Tower View as the big cost is in fitting as this is labour intensive. The bar requires some rather special mounts as the chassis design does not provide the normal points to mount on. The advantage they have is that the design also allows the bar to be removed if needed at any point. .

My bar picks up the rear outriggers, and then mounts to the Diff Hanger. It doesnt go anywhere near the suspension mounts. The theory being, (although I never want to test it) if you slam the rear of the car into a wall or something, it is possible to rip off a wheel / suspension mount, thus there is the potential to weaken the bar. (at this point I must point out that no testing, or FIA approval has been given to my bar, so my theories are not warrented... they are just based on common sense)

My bar is really a "Style Bar" that just happens to stiffen the chassis up, and in "Theory" would provide a little more protection than the standard roll hoop in the roof, or if the roof was down.

take a look at the pix here
