PAINT COLOUR CODES.
Anybody familar with the body colour codes. My 1988 390SE has a dark ruby red metallic finish and the body code is P422-0673.There is no evidence that the car has been ever resprayed but when I contacted a company to get some matching paint they told me the code refers to an ICI paint that is silver metallic.
I'm confused, has anyone come across this before and can let me know the correct paint code or where to find them.

Thanks

I had the same with the 4?0 SE

The colur that it says on the body did not match up to the blue so currently waiting for a brother in law to try and match it up for me.

The black one I left to the body shop and they had to do a special test that reads the colour to get it exactly right as that did not match the body code either . Can't remember the name of the process Spectrograph ?

I had the same problem with my 88 400se.

The car is Arctic white, I have the record of build from the factory so I know it has not had a colour change but the ICL code is TVR Black!

Cant help with your code but a good paint supplier will be able to colour match the paint for you.

Nexa now own the ex. ICI paint division.
You can check / search for paint codes and mix data on their web site.
www.nexaautocolor.com
Go to technical and then on-line formulation.
You may have to registar to acquire a password but no problem its free.

I had a similar problem - local paint shop did not recognise the number off the VIN plate but I found the formula via above and he mixed a 100% match.

Best of luck
