I was planning on putting one of these in the taz racer, but thats on the backburner for a while whilst i get the tuscan up and running.( Im going to drop the other 2.8 race engine back in the taz if anyone want to play and the 24v i've got is going in a crate)

Anyway. One of the engine builders i was dealing with has a 24v cossy complete with mbe ecu and clutch ect. so all it needs is water and electrics plumbing in a pair of headers and your away. with 298bhp and 260 ft/lb

the engine has only been run on the dyno. its not cheap in a 2nd hand engine out of a capri sense but it is cheap in the fully built 300bhp complete with new mbe ecu sense.

I dont think this violates the posting rules as its not me selling, or having an interest in it. Just passing the info along that i've found. So mods pull it if you think its out of order.

If anyones interested drop me a line and i'll pass on the details

Graham - the cossie seems to fit the 'S' quite nicely too - might be worth telling the 'S' boys !

5.6k.... which although a lot of wonga isnt a lot for what you get...

when i priced up building mine.. the ecu, loom and mapping will cost you 1.5-2k...

the cam chain tensioner is somthing like 400 quid on its own !!!!

There is a taz being done at the moment with just a basic refresh with nothing major done( ie no pistons, crank, cam or tensioners needed) and the parts to put it back together came to over a grand just to rebuild back to 200bhp spec with the old ecu..

Sounds interesting. Do you happen to know what sort of mods have been done and is there a dyno sheet with it?

No idea we didnt go into that as i'm no longer looking for a 24v ( just a basic 4ltr chim motor with dry sump)

I've seen their 2.8 and 2.9 stuff and its on the button.

i should think it comes with the dyno sheet as its their dyno cell... and impressive it is too. last time i was there it had just been upgraded to allow circuit simulation !!!!

The Place is John Toovey - 01543 505565 in cannock...

I've no association with them other than being a customer... but they seem straight up and the stuff i bought worked.. just a pity the bit i didnt get from them blew up !!!!

I've had a Cerbera engine rebuilt by John, excellent build and stunning value for money .. I'd bet on this being a very sorted Cossie engine if past form is anything to go by

Just out of interest Jools - how many independants do you know of who rebuild AJP8 and SP6 engines?

(sorry for the thread hijack BTW )

SP6 one. I don't get involved with them, too much trouble. I wouldn't let anyone other than TVR Power or Melling's place rebuild one .. though the owner of my local MOT centre rebuilt a SP6 engine.

AJP8 , well I know of three indies and two owners who've done it

Cheers for the info Jools!

Such a shame TVR had to discontinue the AJP8 engine.
It's seems strong, powerful, and now has the support of independents.

I just Hope the SP6 will gain some good aftermarket support over time. If it doesn't then I may never own one

That Cossie engine sounds ace BTW.
But if I upgraded that I'd have to then upgrade the rest of the car.
Probably be cheaper for me to buy my old 400SE back
