My To Do List For BBWF
Discussion
After a look around the car today i've managed to get a good idea of what needs doing before i can drive the car to BBWF. I'd just though i'd share it with you cos im nice like that...plus if anyone can help source the one or two bits i still need i'd be much obliged.
Most of it is between a 10min and 1/2hr job to do, so if i sort myself out it might just happen!
Then its MoT, rolling road set up and suspension alignment, all pigs fed and ready to fly intime for late July.

- Tidy instrument cluster loom
- Seal between heater intake and bonnet
- Seal now unused air bonnet heater air intake
- Replace air intake hose (anyone got a spare, its the big one from the fuel meter to the throttle flap)
- Mount French style wiper mounted washer jet
- Investigate loss of clutch fluid (
could be a show stopper)
- Securely mount ignition coil
- Re-route engine earth wire behind coil
- Tidy bumpers and front end crazing (just cosmetics so low priority)
- Wire interior B pillar lights
- Trim door panels and rear quarter panels, lay carpet
- Wire speakers into rear quarter panel (not realy needed)
- Replace number place lights (anyone know of a source for these???)
- Fit passenger side window switch, easy
- Possibly look at replacing pop up lights with fixed Hella 90mm projector lights, may not have the time

Hmmmm... Just fitted my new air intake hose, so that's off the list. Made up new breather cap after the old one was dislodged fitting new intake hose. They don't fall onto the floor chaps, they get lodged against the exhaust manifold. When you start it up to make sure all is OK, they melt... Luckily I sold some vented caps to a bus spares place some time ago and had a few left in stock. So I have a bus engine vent fitted into a modified cap. I wonder if that will make it to BBWF?
Now, things still to do... I still wonder about the "gasser" look, but I think that may have to wait until BBWF 2006...but...go faster stripes are a distinct possibility... Air horns? Yes, I may have time to to stripe and horn it...

Depending on the bore of that air hose, Arco do a selection of ducting that may work.
That clutch fluid leak may be because the master cylinder seal has failed. When mine went, it kept emptying the fluid down the bulkhead, but behind all the insulation so you couldn't see it - even the pedal was dry.
You can get a seal kit for about a fiver, but before you do, dtrip the cylinder and make absolutely sure the bore isn't worn oval. Mine was, so the new seal lasted about a week before it gave up.
The acute angle of attack of the pedal forces the piston against one 'side' of the bore, so although it can look OK at the circlip end, further down the bore it can be knackered. To check, remove the piston seal, insert piston and wiggle it.

Thanks Ian. the air hose is the one that loft thru 90deg at the fuel meter end, very much a special, i'll give the local ford dealer a call.
Also the clutch hydraulics are now ex-Fiat Punto, and i dont have any bulkhead insualtion. The top end seems to be dry, so its a case of crawling underneath and seeing what the damage is. thankfully its no longer the concentric slave, else i'd really be in the brown smelly stuff, and i use silicon fluid so it wont of rotted my chassis paint.
The purists are going to lynch me at BBWF!!!
