My calipers came back from the people who re-built them.

When I opened the box I thought somebody had sent me a new pair by mistake!!!

Bloody Hell Mike, The before shot looks more like an exhaust manifold than a caliper!

Tell me about it. On the other side the pistons were rusted in place and were completely knackered!!

The new ones have stainless pistons. The castings have been shot blasted, zinc plated and every single bit replaced and then pressure tested. Not a bad deal for fifty notes a side I thought.

Thanks Rev, apart from the piccies which i obviously took over a period of a few weeks it took me eight hours to put ther article together, edit it, format it, code it and bung it online.....

There must be an easier way than this.

Easier way..? Don't know, but we're glad you put the effort in..all the same

Not having studied my brakes..yet Are they the same as fitted to a 400?

Do you have to load-up the entire site .. or just the changed part.

How's the wedge club idea coming on..

Firstly I have to write the text in MS word or edit it if somebody has sent in the article and take or process all the pics.

I then have to setup a new page(s) in Macromedia Dreamweaver and add in all the bits from a template for the nav buttons etc then copy and paste the word document in.

Format all the text, then process the piccies which comprises of cropping them in Adobe Imageready, then running them through Macromedia fireworks to compress them and adjust the contrast etc. I try and get a good balence between download speed and picture quality - sometimes it works other times it don't.

Add the pics around the text, add in all the hypertext links then save the lot away. Beta test the page on a Mac and PC just in case something goes bonkers on one browser to another and then test all the links work ok. Fix any that don't.

I then gotta add in all the links from the maintenance index page and welcome page etc and test these. I then gotta upload the lot with my FTP software including all the individual pics, spacers and ancillary pages with amended links on, like the welcome page etc.

After its uploaded I then gotta test it again just to make sure it all works correctly.......then I let you guys know it on line.

Takes me ages.

I find the hardest part just thinking up what to say, the technical computer (self taught) bit is just laborious. Still i find it rewarding, especially when I get e-mails from people from countries thousands and thousands of miles away (Hong Kong, the US, Australia etc) telling me that they find the site useful in some way - it makes it all worthwhile.

Makes me laugh a bit though as I do all this in me spare bedroom from a little mining town in South Wales!

I would prefer to be hooning in my car however....

As far as the 'club' goes i have started work on the other side of the wedge site and have been working with Dickymint on some special downloads......

I have also negotiated discounts on a range of wedge products for a certain shiney bit manufacturer and managed to get a special deal on garage tools etc - but only for members.

Should roll it out over the next few months as time permits. The downloads should be worth any subs on their own.... ;-)

Well done Mike - I had no idea it was so long winded.

When I had a site before - you had to ftp the whole thing.. I had the option to upload just changes but more often than not it failed..

Still who wants to sell stuff on the web (not me..).. tell you the story over a beer one day

Mike, I just use the FTP client built into dreamweaver, much easier than messin' with a seperate program.
