Battery fixing

Hi,Is the battery normaly held in place by a rubber strap?.I thought I better try and fix the battery down as its loose and it might fail MOT on that.
Also has anybody had there car fail an MOT for being to noisey,what sort of things do the 350i sometimes fail on,thanks Ken.

Cracks in the chassis
Steering play
Emissions
Dampers
Electrics up the spout
Brakes - or lack of in my case
etc
etc

None of my batteries have ever had the strap might look into constructing something to hold it steady - super duper velcro perhaps! ;-)

Yes but given the weight of the battery and the strength of the strap I doubt whether it does much.

MOT failures? Watch out for frayed seatbelts. On the DHC cars the seatbelt rubs against the steel crossmember behind the seats. The tube has a bit of vinyl glued on but it doesn't really help. It's also the reason most wedge seatbelts don't retract very well.
The handbrake is often a weakness too. Best to adjust it up just before the test, then it should be OK. Mine needs adjusting about every two months!
