Can you tell me,is it ok to test rear brakes on a rear axle having limited slip diff (power/lock) on roller brake tester at MOT centre.I been looking at MOT testers manual and it seems to say you shouldn't test limited slip diffs on rolling brake tester.

I've heard this before and it makes sense, but I bet most of our cars have endured it at some point...

As an MOT tester you are told in the manual never test an LSD in a brake tester, always use a tapley type meter
It makes sence coz if you break it carrying out the test you fix it coz you didnt test it acording to the manual
that is why you should always carry out the brake test last, by that time you know what sort of diff is fitted.
can be a very costly test for the return of £42.10p
better safe than sorry

I can imagine the legal battle you would have trying to get something costly fixed at a garage because the MOT wasn't done according to the manual !

I just did this today, he asked about the LSD, then asked me to drive the car up and down outside the garage while he looked at the meter and tried not to nut the windscreen.

Main brakes got 80%, handbrake 30%, a pass.
