Well after a winter of expediture and general faffing about my 280i is back on the road and in fine form.

I must say driving about in the sunshine in it this weekend has made it all worthwhile.

Thought I'd share a few piccies with my fellow wedgers.

Fun in the sun!

New hood.
Done at Martrim - and what a fine job they made of it too.

New/re-vamped interior trim. All done by my own fair hand.
Note the use of Red Alcantara - can't let those Tuscan and Tamora boys have all the fancy new materials!
(I wonder am I the first wedge to use Alcantara?)

HAPPY MOTORING!

Bob.

Aw shucks fellas!

Graham - the wheels are Borbets other than that I don't know much about them as they came with the car.

Andy - my interior mods were:

Replacing the steering wheel, with a nice one bought from the Pistonheads Classifieds.

Re-trimming the centre console pad, door cards and door handles with red Alcantara.

Covering the handbrake handle with Alcantara (temporary fix).

Getting the drivers seat refurbished.

Cleaning all the vinyl with Cif kitchen cleaner (honestly). It did a brilliant job of getting years of muck out of the grain.

Job still to do - Replacing the veneer on the dash & Glove compartment.

I must say that Alcantara is brilliant stuff. If anyone is thinking of re-trimming any parts of their cars then I'ts well worth considering.

Bob.

Cheers Neil.

Now if you'd asked me last week I would've been tempted, but after this weekends glorious weather and the car feeling so good I just couldn't bear to part with it.

But that's this week, and I'm always being tempted by other cars (350i anyone?)

Rest assured I'll drop you a line if I do change my mind.

I'll probably be at the next Bolton Abbey meeting if anyone wants to touch my Alcantara (ooh matron!)

Certainly looks the dogs danglies now Bob
- look forward to seeing it in the flesh at BBWF.

We use Alcantara, in some of the boats we build, and it is certainly a vast improvement over standard vinyl its just a shame its sooo expensive!

Cheers everyone - I'm blushing here!

Thanks for the offer on the dash Andy.

Rather than re-laminating what I really need is the actual wood & metal bit of the dash itself. The one on mine is home made by a previous owner (I don't have the original dash), and whilst it looks okay is not of a suitable quality for re-laminating.

Anybody out there with a dash going spare?

Looks good Bob.

Im going to cover the inside of the roof panel with blue alcantara. I just need to finish replacing all the rubber seals first
