Lockwire

Does anyone know what sort of lockwire to use for the headlight pods? I can get 18swg copper locking wire from VWP, or Unknown type 0.8mm from Demon Tweeks, or Stainless stuff from Frosts... I've been informed the aircraft industry use a soft wire, but I haven't a clue.

I use 0.8mm stainless which I got from DT. I would have thought copper is too soft and would be too likely to break when its twisted, and it does ultimately corrode.

stainless MIG wire seems to do the trick.

Aviation standard locking as opposed to restraining wire is 22swg stainless

If you are still stuck, I have a spool of aircraft spec locking wire and wirelocking pliars. I'm near Bedford.

I got me lockwire, thanks for all the offers.

Its clever stuff, must be annealed. It is quite soft until you twist it, whereupon it work hardens so that it is really difficult to untwist.
