Oil pressure

Hi,I have changed my oil the other week and have just noticed that now when it starts up,there's no oil pressure for about 5/6 secs.I changed the oil filter to a Unipart filter GFE 295 and I wondered if this filter had a valve in it to stop oil draining out of it when engine is not running. So I have replaced it with a Coopers Z7,which was the same as the original one I took off.I just wondered if any body have had this problem before,thanks Ken.

I don't think it's anything to worry about, keep the revs down until the pressure comes up. Mine takes about the same time and it has a FRAM in there at the moment. I have a Coopers to go on next, but I understand that they don't have the valve.

Hi,Thanks Adam,I have just replaced filter with a Cooper Z7. I will see how it goes,but I noticed an oil leak now,seems to be running down chassis tube underneath oil/filter.It seems to be never ending problems,suppose that's part of fun of owning a TVR .I spend more time underneath it than driving it,lol,thanks Ken.

Ken, my 350 does exactly the same, as Adam says don't worry about it. However I used to use GFE295 filters, I now notice better oil pressure when hot using the FRAM variation... Don't want to start another oil thread but would be interested as to why this happens.

Thanks for imformation,I have fitted a cooper Z7 and seems ok,I will try a Fram filter next time.
I went for a blast in it tonight and took car up to about 80mph,it seemed so fast with being so low down and the noise,also quite bumpy with having hard suspension. What sort of speeds do people drive these cars at? and what revs do normaly take them up to?

150 and 6500 but only occasionally

I remember asking "how many revs do you use in normal driving?" at a club meeting when I had just bought my car and was told "what's normal driving?"

Really it should nudge past 160 OK. I remember that Mr Thorpe never had much trouble. Do you have the small spoiler, semi-circular in plan view, below the front spoiler?

Hi there

1. I use a land rover oil filter and have had no problems though did need to replace the sender unit.

2. You do start being paranoid and thinking everything needs replacing. Once you know its all sorted you will just be able to enjoy driving it!

3. Drive it hard!! Thats what their made for. In another six months you will start thinking she is a bit of a pussy cat and looking for a SEAC!

Thanks, I will drive it a bit harder,the suspension probley needs ajusting, as it feels a bit unstable at about eighty,thought I would try harding it a click or two,its set at 4 clicks from softest at moment all round.I have fitted hard springs and AVO'S on it,thanks Ken.

I thought I may have been being conservative, only time the road was safe for it and I had to back off because of a blind bend with 230 km/hr showing at only 4000 odd rpm and I am also carrying a few Kg's less than Mr Thorpe

The spoiler is missing - in fact there was nothing under the front nose at all where there is normally a GRP moulding around the radiator bottom. I have fabricated a sheet to cover that to stop air falling out and under the car rather than going through the rad.

Would this small semi circular spoiler have any effect ?

I think the idea is that it prevents lift at speed. Should certainly add stability, if not a bit more mph.
