Check the obvious first, the fuse. I think that it also powers the illumination for the ciggie lighter & clock.

Do these light up? If they do then it is either the lamps in the clocks concerned or the wiring around that area that powers the illumination (red and white wire?) or the earths.

Check if you got voltage across the fuse if you have no illumination then start checking back.

I have no illumination for the centre panel instruments, had a look and the previous owner had cut all the wires?!?!.

Do your sidelights work ?

Noticed one day my rev counter and speedo lights were out and when I checked so were all the sidelights.

No fuses blown but no supply to them. Took out the centre dash panel and the switch was in a bad way, stripped the switch, filed and cleaned all the contact points, re-assembled and was amazed at how bright they all were - must have been a very high resistance contact even when they were working before which dropped the voltage to the bulbs - also dissipated this voltage drop as heat and you could see where the plastic light switch had started to melt !
