Does anyone know where I can get a new pair of rubber spring seats for the front springs on my 400?

I have tried RT and a few others who all say that they are no longer available.

Any help much appreciated.

Well it looks like one part we wont be getting anymore!

TVR Car Parts have none and have been checking sources all week to no avail

If anyone has a good spare or two I would be happy to take them off there hands, failing that I might try and repair the originals, I dont fancy metal to metal contact.

I have a list of sources can post early next week if you're stuck. They're cortina. Try a Google search for cortina, owner, club etc.

I have tried searching everything, I have the Ford part number as well but still no good!

If you can supply a pair that will be great drop me an email with the details.

Cheers

There was a firm called New Ford Parts? Specialised in old stock, never been used? Can't find a link at the mo but had numerous items for the Vixen off them.

Got the link, like to keep track of it, you never know.

Have a brand new Cortina (ok never used) speedo off them for some reason?

why not have metal to metal? the ford cortinaIII,IV,V/granada II front suspension always was. they were actually rear upper spring pads on the old 'tina, probably used for sound isolation. not sure of the original reason the factory used them, but i'm sure there wouldn't be a perceptable difference on a noisy wedge!

I was looking at the Mundano the other day and it has plastic sleeving slid over the bottom coil. You could try heat shrink?
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Andy,
Try a seacrh on ebay, I found a guy up in Scotland who has a stable of old fords when I needed a stub axle, I will dig out his e-mail and this link may also help.

I figure that they are there for a reason so I would like to put it back to original, plus I am having all the wishbones powder coated and don't want them scratched! I guess there could be a ride height issue too, they are quiet thick rubber but yes you are right its metal to metal on the Fords.

Not a bad idea, would of avoided metal to metal. Might be worth considering if anyone else has to try and get some!

Hi Hamish, I have tried all the Ford sites I could find still no good! Ford confirmed that although the part number I supplied was still a valid number there are no stocks left in the country!

Try www.classiccortinas.co.uk

Hi Graham,

I left messages on the Cortina forums in the hope of new or second hand and again no joy! I cant believe that a Ford part has been the only part in 7 years of ownership that I have not managed to source!

Hmm.
I remember those rubber seats very well, after stripping to the bare shell, and re-building a Cortina Mk3 GXL a few years ago. Put a 3 litre Essex in it.
After lying under a car every day for 6 months, you tend to become familiar with the layout.

Didnt think about the ride height but without them it would only be a few mm low i guess
Anyway it seems the Wedge fraternity have come up trumps again!!
