Morning all

After much entertainment and loss of skin, I've finally managed to refit the dashboard on my +2. But I it appears the effort to refit it was misplaced.

The oil pressure gauge is now giving sensible readings and I've fitted an additional earth to the rev counter.

Only problem is that the rev counter isn't responding properly. On blipping the throttle it registers an increase, but after hitting a peak reading the needle doesn't return.

The cars an 81/83 with the Stewart Warner gauges fitted. As ideas clues would be gratefully received as I'm trying to get it running for the Brands meeting this weekend.

Thanks

Todd

My '80 Tasmin has the SW tacho: it read fine at idle, but would then read progressively less the harder you revved it. So at the point where valve float occurred (say 6500 rpm ) the tacho said 4000...

I've heard of several failures of the SW tacho; my guess is that the capacitors in the integrator circuit are kefurkled (they are a quarter of a century old, after all...)

I had a simnilar problem after having had my rev counter out. I must have caught the illumination bulb holder with my hand and pushed it in to far this caused it to touch the back of the dial pushing that forward against the needle. Pulled the buld out slightly and problem cured.

I'll give the bulb a try, I did disturb it. I'd be surprised it was something as simple as that. But I suppose there has to be at least once when the car confronts me with a problem that's simple to sort. Particularly I think I'll be asking Sparky mates for favours, and I'm debted enough with them already.
