back on the road again ... not!
Discussion
So I got an MOT certificate for the wedge at last, and finally after 18 months of ownership I get to take to the road ...... marvellous. That noise is just immense, especially through tunnels
. Only managed a couple of hundred miles on the clock before the inevitable happened. It broke down at the weekend. At least I managed to limp home with only 2 gears engaging. Not one but two things appear to be ailing the beast, as it developed a knocking noise from the front end too
Not only that, but the weather which has been brilliant for the last 2 months or so, suddenly turns to our usual Scottish spring/summer weather ie pi$$ing down. Ho hum, I suppose that is wedge ownership for you. Back to donning the ovvies in the garage again :shrugsshoulders:
edited to add I still love it

I had a look last night, and the clutch master cylinder is leaking profusely, so a new one will be on order from RT today. I can't see what was causing the knocking noise - nothing obvious. I put new polybushes on the front tiebars and replaced the droplink and rollbar bushes, and I suspected maybe one of the rollbar mounts had popped out, but all appears intact. I haven't looked too closely yet, but will investigate further at the weekend when I fit the new master cylinder.
An update with my wedge saga - I got the new master cylinder fitted, and everything is OK now with the clutch.
I had a look at what was causing the knocking noise, and have found 2 broken wheel studs on the rear wheel hub
, and the 3 other nuts had worked loose!
I have been told these will chap out with a hammer, but not sure if the new ones will fit without removing the hub (and that mega big hub nut). Oh well, where's the phone 'till I speak to Wedge Auto again. I should buy shares in that company

I'm not sure, because the ones that sheared are lying on a country road ditch somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Might have been me forgetting to tighten them properly, or some other reason like you suggest - they are almost 20 years old after all. I will get a complete set on order from Wedge Auto today and replace them all (4 wheels) to be on the safe side though.
