so ,have i got this wrong......if i buy a cosseted classic TVR that i will run a max of 3 - 5000 miles (if that!) ,i will get stung for more road tax than a poorly cared for daily shopping trolley/school run vehicle that clogs up already congested areas with more pollution as it sits stationary in the local 9am ,3pm and 5pm mad hours?

Maybe i've got my sums wrong ,but i reckon some dispensations should be due to low mileage enthusiast vehicles that are less likely to be causing gridlock and therefore more pollution?

Or am i a grumpy old man....probably

You would hope that it would only be aimed at new cars as is currently the case (registered after 2001)- for us oldies (cars that is ) we may escape with the standard yearly increase on existing road tax..... Think Labour should change the party name to B.O.A.T - Bend Over And Take-it.....

I wouldn't mind all these tax rises so much if there had been any appreciable improvements in the roads, public transport, schools, NHS, etc, etc.

Tried to catch a bus for the first time in a while the other day (doing my bit to cut congestion, etc). Only 2 buses that day (down a busy part of the A5), and the one I tried to catch drove straight past me and the OAPs waiting there with me. Next bus, 3 hours later. Even my wedge isn't that unreliable!

someone start a letter, and I'll sign up. I hope its some how tied up with the MOT test, but gives a margin of flexibility to older low milage motors.

Well said Father Ted, in my role as the Victor Meldrew of my house I wonder how much more the poor long suffering motorist will be forced to put up with before we start the glorious revolution! I feel the total fleecing is yet to come from a guy with a tricorn hat, mask and frock coat, usually known as Dick Turpin but morphed into Tony Blair!!!

So you decide to get a bigger house with a double garage to house your beloved Wedge (and tools, etc)and because you've had your old house for many years you've got some equity to thus help step up to the Wedge house - Enter big Mr.B from No.11 - bang 40% tax on your equity, or so they plan
Moral? Sell the Wedge no need for a bigger garage and no big car tax
