Some months ago the ashtray was pinched from my console leaving an un-trimmed hole. Based on the size of the hole, the ashtray was about 5"x3" running fore and aft.

Does anybody have a source for one (I tried the racers) or does anyone know what car it was sourced out of? Thanks as always. Grady

If its the same as mine, I have often wondered if there is a better replacement. Don't use it as intended but a nicer alloy replacement would be nice. Sorry, not much help.

I second that.

For the fabricators who read this Forum, a nice polished aluminium replacement would be much appreciated. Of course it doesn't have to be an ashtray ... but it mustn't get in the way of gear-changing! - Streaky

PS - in time for this Christmas would be good too - S

I need two ashtrays, but mine appear to have been fitted in the doors - I have an early 280i (one of the ones where all the electrical wires are the same colour - black - nice!) Anyone any idea of a good place to get bits and pieces of trim like that?

I don't suppose the Leven (www.leventechnology.co.uk/) ones would fit? - Streaky

i agree somebody must be able to make a nice polished one, just about to order a bezel set and a hand brake lever so a polished ash tray would finish the job off

Sorry to hijack the thred with this frivolity Grady - to bring it back on track, I believe the request of a polished/aluminium ashtray has already been made to Karl Coldwell as well as Leven.. hopefully this thred can reinitiate interest to show them it's worth investing

No worries Seamus... I was off-line stuffing turkey, a quaint Pilgrim tradition over here. Amazed (and a bit hopeful) to see 18 replies. And thoroughly enjoyed them too.

I’m in favor of the holo projector although I really need an automatically extending-retracting arm to bring up my radar detector at speed, so maybe more R2-D2. Stainless, titanium or polished unobtainium would do.
