Hi, after much hurruffing, twidling, retuning, untwiddling and kicking an old dustbin up my mothers garden, I have finally come to the opinion that the ECU is the culprit on my 350i II.

Any suggestions on where to go to get it looked at, refurbed, smelted, or replaced.

I live in the Watford area but would consider anywhere to get this sorted.

Many thanks in advance.

Grant.

Hi there,

I have also got a series 2 350i and had a problem with the ECU. Send it to carelect and got it back with the announcement that it could not be fixed (an ecu which cannot be fixed?????). So i bought a secondhand one from a Range Rover dismantler. I went their with the lucas partnumber that is on the ecu and searched for an identicle one (if you take a good look you can even see the date of manufacturing carved in it at one of the corners, mine said 1188 november 1988). Plugged it in and the wedge drives fine again. Good luck hunting or having it fixed!

350 and RR are not the same ECU. There are a few modifications which if you don't do you won't get the same performance, especially at the top end.

I've (well, actually Tower View have at the moment) got the ECU from my 450SE which is going spare (well, actually i would sell it) if suitable.

Cirks, that must have different mapping, although others could say whether it can be made suitable for a 350i but if I were you I'd hang on to it - you never know when a 450 owner might need one and it would be a lot harder for him to find a suitable unit.
