Just finished the brake upgrade, but could do with a bit of info. The calipers and discs came from a tasmin racer, twin pot calipers as fitted to a Volvo 244. Anyone any idea if these were fitted to a wedge as standard?

Also I'm going to have to switch to standard pads for road use, i've found the greenstuff are no use from cold.

This looks very interesting.

Do the Volvo 244 calipers fit directly or did you have to use a mounting bracket of some sort and a caliper spacer?

No they are not standard. The Tasmin racer regs allowed some mods with the brakes. You'll need to notify your insurers as this is a mod.

That disc looks similar to the one I used on the 520 about 4 brake upgrades ago. Worth checking frequently for cracks as I had a 3 inch crack appear after some spirited braking. Replacements are virtually impossible to get now which is why I went a different route subsequently.

The Volvo 244 callipers look like a standard ish AP twin pot. It has been spaced theough so I am wondering if it is similar to the original Granny callipers that were used. If the pots are bigger than the originals you might find that the pedal travel is more than you would like due to the extra fluid that is needed to be pushed.

If you want some better pads, try the DS2000 from Ferodo.

244 Calipers are Girling and bolt straight on. They are spaced, and look very similar to the Granny ones. Now you mention it the pedal does travel more, but I wasn't sure I had all the air out.

Discs have been used for a season of tasmin racing and look fine, I imagine for the road use plus occasional sprint/climb that I'll give them will be fine.

Ferodo pads already purchased, thanks for the tip about insurance.
