G'day
Well, in the absence of a working car as I wait for me bits to be delivered, I thought I'd buy her a new steering wheel.

DOH!

I thought the 280i (what I got) and the 350i (what it allegedly came from) would have the same column??? Or was that a foolish thought!? Seemingly it was, my column is to big to fit through the hole, snigger

cheers

Well that's the thing you see, I assumed that the 350 and 280 were the same so wouldn't have to do that. Unfortunately they're not and the old+new bosses are too different to swap over

280 = TR7

350 = (possibly) SD1

Oh bu$$er! Cheers for info though Ian Hmmmm, wonder if I can get it a boss. It's quite a nice wheel, Momo one. My existing one is alright, but at some point it has lost it's leather cover and isn't too pleasant to hold.......

TR7 steering boses, aka mountney are about £8 from the various Triumph places, Rimmer, Moss, Robsport etc.

While you are at it, get some nice new plastic bearings for the innards of the TR7 column, only £4 each, transforms the steering feel.

I know the thread's old but I 'm just waking it up quickly........do you happen to know if Spitfire / Herald / TR4 is the same as the TR7? Obscure question I know, but I've just remembered about my steering wheel when I found some on a popular online auction site
