Replacing Electric Mirror motor - Help anybody!
Discussion
I replaced both of mine, easy to do. The mirrors are attached to to the backing with adhesive sponge, just need to cut it off with a stanley knife, make sure the little spacers are put in the correct places, otherwise you won't get the correct angle.
The motors are hard to get hold of. It is worth checking the 8 way joystick and that the connections and wiring is the correct way around first.

See: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=95825 for sources of motors (posted to save others searching).
My mirror (the faired-in variety) has two "screws" (leastways, I think they're screws) holding an outer (rear-facing) frame to the body (part #2 in diagram in M15 of parts Manual (see thread: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=97543). The parts manual suggests (picture) that it is not necessary to undo these "screws". Can anyone tell me whether they are screws and whether I have to undo them? I can't see far enough down the hole to see what they really are. If they are screws, I think I'll need a screw extractor to get them out as I guess the slot/cross has worn away (but why?)
. Thx - Streaky PS - I've spent 9.5 months raising myself up in the seat to get a good view behind (mirror only adjusts side-to-side, not up/down ... and it's not the joystick) so decided to do something about it - S
