So I get home from work on Friday and my daughter waiting at the front door waving a piece of paper like Neville Chamberlain.

"Dad, Frank dropped this in, said it would make your day".

I blinked and gasped, it was only an MOT certificate for my 350i.

Having arranged some insurance, I got home from work so early on Friday, I had barely left. Shot over to Frank's workshop just up the road in Brentwood and there it was, dusty, smelly, but defiantly wedge shaped and street legal to boot after nearly 7 years.

Well that was it, I lived in it the entire weekend. No journey was too much trouble.
Sure it smells of petrol, sure the relays drop into the passenger seat, sure one of the headlights sticks and has to be hand wound and the door doesn’t open from the inside (and one of the windows hits the trim, the mirrors stick and there is a few odd knocking noises, I think you get my drift) – but it is firing on all 8, and sounding so sweet I had to hit a ton round the back of Hanningfield reservoir.

Well I now have a list of things to do a mile long, but hey, roll on Le Mans.

By the way, does anybody know where I can get the piece of black trim that runs along the front of a 350i?

I tried a search on the web with no luck - do you have a number by any chance.

Many thanks,
regards,
Carlos.
