Yep - the rarest piece of wedge parts has gone plop on the 400.. Have had a dig through previous posts without much joy and was interested in whether anyone finally worked out what the mirror pod motors were from... my ones have "Made in Holland" on the motor with what looks like IKJ as the company - internet search has proved useless - or as an alternative due to rarity - has anyone done a straight replacement of motor keeping the original pods/glass intact?
Cheers

I salvaged a couple of motors from a mid 80s Sierra, a while back, they look the same but I have not yet had chance to fit them. From what I remember they were the same make and 4 wire with a motor and clutch assembly. Wedge MOT this Friday, so if it passes I will have time to have a look at replacing the old ones that have been glued in with silicone sealant.

Hi Andy,

Did read that the SDi VDP was the culprit but easier to find a replacement than rocking horse poop.. there also have been a few other views - hence the post.. having said that the SDi unit has 3 wires not 4? The motor looks standard without modification? any other ideas?

Cheers

Hi cahps, definitely from an SDi VDDP. I had to replace both of mine when i got it, now need to replace the drivers one again. I am going to look into modding the wiring to suit something more modern. Just need to source a motor the right size and similarish shape. If anyone has any good suggestions let me know.

Cheers Mick - good luck with the modding - let us know how you get on, had also confirmed with the Rover SD1 club that the part is indeed the same based on the description - 4 wires white/blue/black/brown and IKJ marking on the rear. There are 2 recommended suppliers for them:

Wins & Co – 01342 836060 – second hand £15 per side.
Rimmer Bros - 01522 568000 - new £50+ per side.

Something tells me these won't be in stock for long

Cheers
Sean.

A tad off topic, but does anyone know about where the plastic surround comes from? Haven't yet ripped the unit out (rusty screw on mine too), so not sure if part of the great wing-mirror-motor debate or not
