Renewal through and a hike from 490 unlimited to over 700 limited, so the usual phone around for a better quote. For some reason, the 4.2 transplant seems to be the culprit to some extent. Never much of a problem before when I declared it.

Not very happy with this but not much I can do I suppose. The usual TVR ones were well over the top compared to the high street ones.

I found the TVR referred ones were rediculous - ended staying with the one I was with.. I take it you've tried ClassicLine - curious what they will charge given the engine mods over a stock 400.. good luck with your hunt around Jeff..

Think I am sorted, tried them by the way. If I go with them I will have to get a nodding dog for the parcel shelf.....oh yes..yes....yes

Edited to add, oh no..no..no. They have been beaten.

I'm suprised Classicline didn't come up trumps, guess it must be the unlimited milage because mods are normally no problem with them.
Hope you get sorted.

got a reasonable quote on 10,000 miles pa. Problem also the limited milage. I tend to do 8k+ a year, all for fun.

What was really anoying is the sudden hike. I was with a firm that had a very good policy and price with unlimited and accepted the mods for a good few years. Then all of a sudden prices through the roof.

Ho hum, I know it made no sense when I bought it

I use classicline .. with declaired mods..

5K miles for a year - if the miles run out then you need to re-insure .. it still works out cheaper that an unlimited milage policy !

My SEAC is about £270.

Classicline - mods no problem and they offer agreed value etc etc. Just over £300 for 5k miles.

Me thinks I am sorted. I cannot get away with around 5,000. Tried the re insure bit and they said I would end up on an unlimited general policy....too expensive. I was more miffed at the sudden hike than having to shop around. Anyone else on a large milage policy?

Norwich Union (through a broker) £780 unlimited mileage. Its the "on road" parking that bumps it up.
This includes full RAC cover. They're gonna do a detailed search for me in August.
Ive been with them for about 20 years changing only once when a mate of mine (runs an insurance company)gave me a better quote but 2 weeks later renigged on the quote!(our friendship then ceased).
Moral is "you get what you pay for"

Tried Norwich, I think. Think the phone bill makes up half the cost now. Only draw back is no track day cover but then its too loud anyway. Firms will do single day cover if I can take part so that's not a problem.

um, but do two trackdays and you might as well pay the extra 100 quid or so on the policy - it's cheaper!

Classicline wasn't massively more expensive (can't remember the exact figure) if I had gone for unlimited mileage.

ps. you cannot be any noisier than mine.....! Get back on track now, you have your orders

Cheers, just tried them. Won't insure modified cars.

Cirks, still after a noise meter to see how loud. Work patterns seem to get in the way of well laid plans. That is when a meeting is on when I can get it measured.

I also get the impression that my post code is taken as Cardiff not where I actually live. Wonder if that's the reason.

Thems the ones that I was going to but the original firm came back and beat them. Seems people do want my business after all.
