I Popped down to Peninsula this afternoon, just to do some bits to the 400SE.

I heard about NACAD's antics earlier that day ....
and A40 0SE was just being fettled and cleaned, I assume for collection.

I took the new seats down, and fitted them. I also coloured the door handles with the new blue dye.

Very nice Jason , jealous on two points:

1. Your interior is better than MrsH's !
2. You are obviously the reason I DIDN'T GET MY SEAC BACK THIS WEEKEND !!!!!!!!!!!

.......only joking , ENJOY

Jason!
Can't have missed you by much.
If I'd known you were coming down I'd have waited a little longer.

Yeah - Have to remind them what a proper TVR sounds like occasionally
The overrun crackle is really good at the moment - and I was only on bog standard unleaded yesterday. Get much bigger pops and bangs with Optimax!

Only at Penninsula for an MoT, and it passed!
Cheapest Tiv bill I've ever had!

Pity I missed you guys.

Richard, we must meetup for that Curry sometime soon ... Sorry to hear about the white wedge (are you upgrading ?)
Duncan, the portable shower is taking form, and should be ready for LM.

Seamus, the 400 was looking loverly when I left it.
NHyde, your 420SEAC looks the Dogs Danglies too.

I was speaking to Mr Smith regarding a twin tailpipe conversion for the Wedge ..
Straight through exhaust, with small inline silencers, exiting with twin 4" tailpipes (one either side at the rear).

Watch this space !!!

Sadly, I am not upgrading.

The time has come to be sensible, and I need to cash for a future house purchase. I guess now is going to be the best time this year to sell it, even though I'm not intending on buying a house for a little while.

I will really miss it, especially as it is now the car I'd always wanted it to be.

Rich.

Jas

Where did you get the seats from, where they refurbished or replaced ? As I have just picked up a 400 and wil need to replace the seats and carpets.

Anyone know if you can buy a carpet set from anyone ready made, as I have no pattern due to most of mine been rotten

Yo. The seats were re-trimmed. I asked for the foam t also be firmed up, and the general feel of the seats to be hardened. (cost was about £600).
The Carpets were made to fit... and I also have a set of overmats thrown in for that price,

Jason ,

is it planned to go below the half shafts , a la SEAC? Do you expect to see any performance benefits ?

Neil

PS Already hijacked your head light mod so this may be next !

Neil, the current exhaust goes below the drive shafts and the diff. I am planning to have this one do the same.

Currently, I have a 3" stainless pipe that goes below the chassis, but I would like to replace the centre box with two cherrybomb style silencers, and keep the pipework to 2" or 2 1/2" diameter pipes. keep them together, with a balancer pipe pbtween them, then break out into 2x 4" tailpipes at the rear.

No real performance benefits expected, but it would be nice to beable to provoke flames from both tail pipes
Plus should be a more bassier sound

That would then replicate the layout of Griffith/ Chimaera system, i have avoided going this route because i think the single pipe / silencer sounds sweater, not saying it's a bad idea, just my thoughts, also i wouldn't go any bigger on the pipe size through the main system, smaller pipes = higher gas speed = flames=

Flames = Good ... in that case, might stick with twin 1 1/2 inch pipes, and just keep the 4" tails.

2" is fine for twin pipes , 2 1/2 is a bit ott though
