On a Wedge do they flow "backwards" as I suspect Ford intended or "forwards" (i.e. fitted the wrong way round) as on the early S Series with 2.8 engine?

I should add that the photo shows the 'TVR Special' manifold used in the wedge, and it doesn't match any Ford one that I know of.
(Ford one would be almost horizontal, to clear oil filter) links back and confirms the speculation on the 'S' thread....

and also - spotted that the second link on that 'S' thread has the LATER castings, which are WIDER than the early ones, and NEITHER side will fit in a wedge as far as I know...... One way to tell is that the manifold has a flange for an EGO sensor.

They will fit to any 2.3 or 2.8 engine but I think even forward facing they won't fit in a 2.8 wedge.

i´m watching this with interest. so the advertized manifold

http://www.ebay.de/itm/-/172055532954

is for a Wedge?

means an original ford manifold will not do the job?

The TVR stamped manifolds are like hens teeth..The other was a 2.3 Cortina..The Ford Capri exhaust manifolds will not fit a Wedge....I bought these in stainless from ACT..

Unfortunately my cast originals had a crack in them and when i sent them up to a fellow Wedger one had arrived in half despite my careful packaging...

True, on both counts.

I've fiddled around with Colognes a fair bit, in TVR and in Cortinas, and kits....

(as per other exhaust thread...)

Original Ford ones - a pair. One has horizontal exit over oil filter, other has around a 45 degree angle down to bellhousing.
2.3 Cortina, and early 2.8 Carb/injection.

Later on, Ford introduced new larger castings for the 2.8 which extend out further from the block, and neither of these will fit in a wedge, as far as I know. Later 45 degree casting has a flange for an EGO sensor. These castings are generally a bit 'beefier' as the early types did tend to crack.

In an original 2.8 straight rail frame.....

Rumour has it that flange was machined on 45 degree one to get clearance to frame - don't know for sure if this is true, but mine does look narrower than standard.

Wedge uses the 45 degree Ford one (machined ?) and a special on oil filter side.
TVR special goes down probably at 80-90 degrees in front of oil filter...

As far as I know all aftermarket manifolds don't fit, because they follow the Capri/Cortina engine bay shape, and foul on the side rails. I guess a close fitting to block may squeeze in.

Kits / Backwards - if everything else in standard Cortina/Granada place....

The horizontal one (normally oil filter side) fouls the power steering pump, if fitted and the 45 degree one will foul the alternator.
Alternator can be moved up to the Essex type position easily (high up by Cyl 4) and use longer fanbelt.

Done this very trick for kits with manifolds 'backwards' and works nicely.

Early pair may go in a wedge backwards if alternator moved and no PS, but it's very close to air filter box.

Note that TVR power steering pump is not in original Ford position either.

Hope that helps !

I don't know how the hell people get a 2.9 or Cossie in, given the lack of space at the back - I can see Cossie may have higher exhaust ports ??

Of course with a V8 frame, there's those few extra vital inches....

I have a right hand TVR manifold that is of no use to me as it doesn't fit on my mongrel. If anyone needs it, just PM me.

They were around £500 but at the time i didn't have a choice as i had a hairline crack and didn't want to risk it with a supercharger......I couldn't find any cast..Also prefer stainless steel....smile

Sounds about right to me. Although if both are as short as the pic Zig posted that seems a tad stingey. The pair of long tubular manifolds i had made up on my 2.8 granada made a massive difference, and looked very similar to the janspeed capri manifolds I've seen on ebay.

What kind of room is the beside the engine in the wedge with the cologne lump?
As I'd be looking to adapt a set of capri tubular manifolds if it were me wink

Hi mate..They do look short but thats whats needed for the Cologne in a Wedge..Both downpipes were different on Delilah...Capri manifolds definitely don't fit...ACT made then a slightly bigger bore..

The part number on the German eBay one looks like 125 S 002 A. If that is the case it's a Tasmin right hand manifold. It's the same as the spare I have.
