Hi .Had a friend working on my car .valley gasket ...No thermostat. Fitted .do I need to get the 88 degrees one .Thanks.Mike.Hopfully on the road next mounth...out riggers done .fuel lines being done over the weekend .valley gasket being done.next job will be blow on exhaust .not looking foreward to that one. Thanks all...Mike
Yeah 88 degrees but beware the lack of thermostat usually means a bodge-up hiding some fault with the cooling system, failed head gasket, etc.
So after fitting it, check it well. Best to drive it to get up to temperature then park up and let it idle for 10 minues, the needle should get up to the red then be pulled back to 90C when the fans kick in (you can leave the bonnet open).
Then turn off the engine and listen for any hissing noises. make sure the system stays pressurised for a good 10 minutes.
