On my 280i there are two plates, one above each rear shock absorber tower with two pre drilled holes in each. However there are no corresponding holes in the boot. Seems like a very good place to attached the body to the chassis - much better than the bottom of the spare wheel well - just wondering if the good folk at TVR forgot to drill mine....

Does anyone have their chassis attached the body via these plates, or does it just sit on them? Cheers

On my old silver wedge (originally a 280), it also had those metal plates but it didn't have holes in the plate or body if that helps?

Interesting... My 400 doesn't have those.

Looks like a good place to bolt the body to though!

Give that man a prize!. You nailed it Geoff, says so on p126 of the bible. Rear roll bar mounting points. Doesn't mean they couldn't be used to hold the body on too, but the fibreglass might not be thick enough, will check.

I'm guessing you would cut the fibreglass away if mounting a roll bar.

I checked my car this morning and the body is bolted to this bit of the chassis. It is a hard top though. Not sure if that makes a difference.

This one had a full roll cage as was a FHC racer , non standard rear mounting points I think as higher than other plates in OP pic.

Can't see why it would be different. A good place to make sure the body is on the chassis 100% level too.

Must be just the real early ones, this was 1981 chassis with the big plates

Hi Glen,
looks like the chassis' changed quite often during the Wedge's life. Odd to see yours with straight rails going past the engine , thought they were meant to be bent to fit round the V8 like the red one pictured above. Or was this just another issue with that car ??

Cheers
Geoff.

ah it was a 280 before someone creatively tweaked the rails to squeeze a v8 in eek
