I consider there are several groups of owners and buyers. Those who:
- want standard or as near as factory delivered as possible
- buy a project to restore to as near factory delivered state
- enjoy a good fettle
- wish to show their immaculate car; like a painting
- want just to drive something involving and different, irrespective of its originality as long as it has a provenance of a genuine one
- modify, change or what have you, to make it better, safer or whatever.
My category would be ' immaculate, ready for show, fairly close to original, that drives spot on and enjoy the powerful performance'. I do look after it well and am fussy where I park it or where I leave it if anywhere. I am fussy about which garage I take it to for repairs. I've had bad experiences in the past from places that call themselves classic car mechanics. In the time that I own it, it's my pride and joy to be maintained superbly and nothing less. When I sell it, I do prefer to sell it to someone who will look after it like I have, but at the end of the day, he who pays the piper calls the tune.
