It is interesting to me for someone who wants to ensure that my wedge goes to an appreciative home when it is time to sell, what is the criteria when looking for one and how much to pay.

I consider there are several groups of owners and buyers. Those who:
  • want standard or as near as factory delivered as possible
  • buy a project to restore to as near factory delivered state
  • enjoy a good fettle
  • wish to show their immaculate car; like a painting
  • want just to drive something involving and different, irrespective of its originality as long as it has a provenance of a genuine one
  • modify, change or what have you, to make it better, safer or whatever.
Which one are you?

Standard but with sensible improvements that are reversible for originality.

OK - don't pick on my Gulf racing colours .. I can spray it another colour.

My category would be ' immaculate, ready for show, fairly close to original, that drives spot on and enjoy the powerful performance'. I do look after it well and am fussy where I park it or where I leave it if anywhere. I am fussy about which garage I take it to for repairs. I've had bad experiences in the past from places that call themselves classic car mechanics. In the time that I own it, it's my pride and joy to be maintained superbly and nothing less. When I sell it, I do prefer to sell it to someone who will look after it like I have, but at the end of the day, he who pays the piper calls the tune.

Drive the arse off it, brake upgrades etc as some of the standard kit is inadequate. Always fix anything that needs fixing and i dont drive it in the rain if possible.

Enjoy a good fettle-want to make the car as good as possible to a good standard spec, but by renovating what is there to keep the character, rather than just having everything painted and re-trimmed to make it new-if that makes sense.

Avid fettler, if it's broken it can probably be improved, as my car was a Cat D it's never going to be worth top money so I may as well improve it where I can. Better than evening telly....

Similar to Dix but rain not a problem, though I try and avoid snow.

In-curable fettler. I like originality too but I don't think TVR got everything right on these cars so there's plenty of room for sensible improvement.

I am definitely 'wanted something that I wouldn't find another one of very often - it's working well, only seen any other 350SEs at BBWF!
