Well GYPO is going for its MOT on Monday, 1st since I got her in Feb. Took her out this afternoon and noticed the steering wheel juddering, got back and found front right tyre only had 20psi in it. I hope after pumping it up this has cured it. Then noticed a coolant leak from the radiator area, going to have to wait till the MOT now to find where that is coming from. Fingers crossed nothing major comes up.

Good luck with it and don't forget to check the silly simple things such as wiper blade, lights, indicators etc.

I use 24 front and 26 rear although i think it should be the other way round...Especially with me and an engine up front...smile

Also check and double check the operation of light pods, If in doubt wind them up pre-MOT and remove the fuses.

Make sure all switches with illumination actually light up...Have a little bit of a drive to lean off the mixture as they all run a bit rich in the morning...Also the rear brake rollers they test the brakes on are not good for power lock differential as i understand it....Good luck with it....

22 front, 25 rear for me. That's psi! Seems to be a good balance on the "comfy old 350i".

I do prefer mine a bit softer for grip. 22-24 seems to be more average round here.

As for the juddering maybe the PAS belt is a bit slack or got some crud on, so clean it off first and I usually put 1-2 drips no more of neat washing up liquid on to help it bite.

Finally if it's still juddering and a bit slack adjust the belt tension.

Didn't have a clue what pressures to use so just used my old default of 32 psi all round. I will change it when it gets back. Thanks for the info.

25 all round would of been better...I remember having tyres fitted and they put 42 in each...Very scary on wet roads!...

Well, GYPO passed her MOT with no advisories but she does have a fluid leak from the PAS so she is in on Monday, this could of been the reason for the wheel judder. The tyres have now been deflated to 25PSI all round. Thanks again.

When you say "Judder"...On the steering wheel on full lock...Braking..Or just driving?

It is when driving, around the 60 mph mark it is more noticeable.

Hi mate...If it feels like its coming from the rear or even N/S front then please check your rear hub nuts...More so the nearside...They should be torqued to around 180ftlb if used nuts or around 230ftlb for new...You will also need a very large socket..38mm i think and a 3ft good quality wrench/bar...The N/S should be locked with a pin...Its good to mark them across the shaft and nut to see if the ever move..

Also check the wheel bearings for noise/Play and driveshaft UJ's for wear...Also inspect the prop UJ....The front wheel bearing should have a tiny amount of play.

Have you had wheels balanced or tracking done?....

That sounds more like wheel balance - the PAS is linked to engine speed, you would get the same effect at 50mph in 4th and 40mph-ish in 3rd if held at that speed, if it was the PAS system.

Check that any wheel weights haven't fallen off. Check the wheel nuts are tight too...

Anyhow well done and enjoy it for the summer.

Check the tyres are round, with no bulges or irregularities on the tread face

I use 26 front, 24 rear, PAS fitted, 225/50-15 Toyo Proxes - horrid tyre, god only knows why people used to rave over them. I only fitted them because so many people said they were good. I had Eurotour 408s that gave a nicer, quieter ride with at least as much grip and cheaper.
