Hi, The Tasmin 280 has come out of hibernation and purely by chance I found the bonnet release cable had seized up (luckily the bonnet was not pushed down fully)I hung it up in the garage and regularly dripped oil down the inner cable and yippy it freed up. Today I refitted it, but I think the cable has stretched. now I'm afraid to close the bonnet fully in case I cant release it again.
Does anybody know where I can get a new one or have any idea's for fixing it please.

Ian.

Hi Ziga,

Thanks, that does look like it. It a shame I cant see the other end.
I was going to show a picture of mine attached to the mechanism, but for some reason I cant get a picture up from my laptop at home. Ill try at work tomorrow.

Thanks again Ian.

Hi, Here is a picture of my cable conected to the mechanism. Do you think the nipple can be removed, the cable shortoned and nipple reattached.

Hi mate...I have a picture somewhere of my postbox wedge...When my cable snapped i had to cut the vent to pull the cable....I searched for that particular cable end fitting but couldn't find one so i used a grub screwed large nipple...(Oooo missus) and a large washer..I did wonder about cutting the fitting with a leading cable of around 2" and then use a double grub screwed joiner...But with all the faffing around i had with the same kind of fitting on the clutch cable i chose not to....Ziga

Ziga, thanks for the advice. I think Ill buy the MGB GT cable and try and fit the bits from the old one. The nipple on the end should come of if heated with a blow torch. http://www.venhill.co.uk/Downloads/CableConstructi...

Good luck with that as I'm sure they are crimped on...If so i guess if you can get the old shyte out then perhaps you could drill the bottom so that the cable passes through the fitting and then lock it on the end with a soldered on nipple...(Ooo missus).....
