Wedge Info Please ?
Discussion
Guys
Afternoon
Previously had a Grantura Project then a 3000M then a S1 ..never had a big bad wedge which is on my bucket list [ Literally..]
Any info on the 1987 red wedge in the pic attached...Reg No E543 PMH
Down Southend direction and owned by a 'Nick'. Been refurbished a few years ago including chassis & engine.
Interior a bit aged but no tears.. Electrics are also ok.
He did mention that the Diff UJ need new bearings as a slight knocking noise when off at high revs ? Not a major job or expense ? Never tackled that , but have an old mechanic who is on stand by..
Any information would be greatly appreciated ..
Thanks
Brian
Hi Brian
The Diff seal can apparently be done with the diff still in its cradle..Never done this personally but know a man that did..Its normally the front seal ...The diff is XJ6/S so spares are available ...
Here is some very useful info for Wedges and its FREE...

UJ's are not drastically priced and always buy the Hardy Spicer or equivalent and make sure they have a grease nipple on....Its best when replacing these to do both sides....The cheaper version do not last long and neither do the others unless you get them regularly greased every 6 months...Especially if you use it more.
I like how it has the old Capri rear lights rather than the hens teeth Renault Fuego...Personally i would of chosen a modern rear light that looks similar as you know there will be a few years of stock.....And the 400SE spoiler...I like it...I recognise that blue one....
