I Know I should know this by now as I've had the car 20 years, but how do you get access to raise the headlamp pod on a 450SE? It seems after having some paintwork done at the front of the wedge thelight pod on the side where the work was done doesn't raise properly, unfortunately I only notice this after almost a year had passed.

any suggestions?

Any suggestions? I'm hoping I can get this fixed for the bbwf so I'm running out of time.

Hi mate...Not sure on the 450SE but do you have an access hole under the pod..If so then you can manually wind it up...Ziga

Could be the cranked linkage is loose or incorrectly fitted to the motor, if the pod goes up and down OK but fails to reach the right height.

is the only access by jacking the car up?

Have a look...If there is a hole big enough to get your hand in underneath the pod then you can wind it up without jacking it up...smile

On the 400/450SE's there is a hole just big enough to contort your hand up and locate the knob on the bottom of the motor. doesnt matter which way you wind it, the pod should lift (if you keep winding in one direction, it will reach the apex of its lift arc and start to come down again.
You dont need to jack the car up or remove the under tray.. just have a double jointed wrist !!

Not necessarily... later motors had a one-way clutch under the knob so the motor will only wind one way by hand. I'm not sure why, it was done by Lucas not TVR so there must have been a reason the TR7 needed it that way. Maybe to stop incompetent Yanks doing the thing a mischief and then sueing them wink

Thanks for that Jason, but I ran out of time. Maybe another year if I've still got it. I might still pop down to the bbwf in the other car to take some pic, so maybe see some of you guys there smile
