I think my Wedge hates me!
Discussion
So I have spent a fair chunk of time today working on my 350i.
The last run out last year my drivers window jumped out of the channels and ended up in the bottom of the door (in one piece luckily)
I have had several failed attempts at repairing it and decided to have one final go at it today before the Phils at aeromotive fixed it tomorrow.
I took the front door channel out and eventually managed to get the scissor in the right place with the glass in situ. I put everything back in place then noticed my door handle was loose so I removed it and refitted it with a washer to stop the screw from pulling through. Then I reattached the rod from the doorhandle to the latch mechanism and put the rod for the lock back in place, checked it all worked then replaced door card.
Closed the door, locked it, unlocked it and the door lock decided it wanted to stay locked permanently.
climbed over from the passenger side and you cant open it or get the door card off. Eventually managed to lever the door card far enough that I could get a hand in and move the lock mech by hand. opened the door, took it all apart again, repaired the lock mech again, checked it all worked ok put everything back together then put the car back in the garage. Then I remembered something I left on the passenger seat and went back to open the door, it unlocked ok but the bloody handle wouldnt work!
So now I have to break into the car because it is in the garage, the passenger side is close up to the wall, the handbrake is on so I cant push it out and the door handle doesnt want to know at all. I managed to get the roof off, lifted a small child (mine not a random passing one) over the window and dropped her into the drivers seat to open the car from inside. I then removed the doorcard for the 855th time, replaced the rod into the door handle and checked to all worked.
4 hours of my life, a lot of skin (fibreglass is like bloody razor blades!) some amazingly bad language and the outcome is that the car is in the garage with the window down and the roof off because I dont trust it not to break again when I leave it !

I have to ask, whilst offering sympathy....
Did you put the clips back on ??
On my 2.8, the rod going to the handle has a little locking clip to ensure it doesn't come off at lock end, both doors.
On one door there is a clip on the locking rod too, but on the other door, the rod has a different shaped 'end', probably replaced at some point, so no clip.
It might be all this hassle is for want of a
2c clip.
Yeah been there with the back of the hand itching like crazy and bright red......
sounds nuts but a good scrub actually helps get the glass bits out, and aloe-vera handcream or aftersun afterwards as it really hurts to scrub....works OK.

Have you managed to bend the rod by any chance?..
It is possible it got bent when the window glass was wedged into it, it had an interesting shape but I remember it being a very similar shape previously so who knows.I may well be missing some clips in there and some of the ones that are there are a bit knackered, if anyone should have their door card off at the fest so I can look and see what it should look like it would be appreciated, or if anyone has a decent photo of a good condition mech
