Does any one have a spare glove-box lid which might be in better condition than mine?

The condition of the lacquer isn't too important so long as the veneer underneath is OK.

Thanks in advance thumbup

Depend on the condition of the rest but maybe worth getting the lot recovered, esp if you get a replacement glove box it's not going to match

The main dash is in very good condition and not really in need of renovation. If I'm lucky enough to find a decent glove-box cover the same colour I'll only have to re-furbish that part.

I think you can buy a brand new one on TVR Parts Ltd for under £30. Am I allowed to say that?

should you be lucky enough to find they actually have one could i have first dibs on your old one should you sell it as mine has never had one in my ownership and it would need covering white or black so condition not important

Turns out they have two or three, ex-David Gerald stock, all damaged and all different sizes. Awaiting photos to see if they have one less damaged than mine and the right size.

TVR Parts only have one left from the David Gerald stock. It measures 375mm x 100mm so it is too small for my car (mine is 438mm x 122mm). It is chipped around the edges but could probably be sanded down and re-lacquered. Back to "Plan A".

If you are desperate for this "Gove-box lid" you could always try a cabinet member maker....

Don't worry, I'm sure I can fall back on my old wood-working skills to bodge up something.

Are you referring back to the joke at the time of the Cecil Parkinson affair?

Q. What's the difference between Thatcher's government and Ikea furniture?

I'm working on mine at the moment. I bought a sheet of walnut burr veneer. I've cut a sheet of aluminium the same size as the original veneer and lined it with the new veneer, cut and sanded to the right size and I'm now adding clear varnish. I'm up to coat 8 I think but it still needs a few more coats.
