Hi All
I did know they were not a standard fit to the 350i but still really dont know what make it is cant see any markings at all or is this the only make used on these in any case. What is the brand to use then, I would assume that any decent one would be ok? does it need the sae 90 or os sae 80 ok
Thanks

Hi
Went underneath today with car up on ramps, tag on it says 3.54 but no sign of PL but paperwork says fitted with rare LSD option for this car. Also states it has a special 29/1000 RPM 5th gear
As suggested above, worth turning the wheels off the ground to confirm whether it is actually an LSD.Went underneath today with car up on ramps, tag on it says 3.54 but no sign of PL but paperwork says fitted with rare LSD option for this car. Also states it has a special 29/1000 RPM 5th gear

Now that would be something worth knowing more about if it's genuine... I've never heard of it before, not seen it mentioned on the SD1 or Landrover sites. I always thought they missed a trick by not making it a proper overdrive ratio.Hi
Basically what the paperwork says is with this it you gives you 90 MPH at 3150 revs, cant tell you if this is true only bought it in August last year and have not done many miles with it in fact too few. Car sorned at moment but will be on the road April. May well try it then, might have a chance early in April too take car on a closed track to try watch this space.

IIRC my car (standard LT77 box and 3.31 final drive) does 84mph at 3000rpm according to the speedo, 82 according to Mr. Garmin.
Which is a bit disappointing, because my Connect van does 80 (satnav) at 3100 rpm with half the cylinders and less than half the capacity - and is more economical to boot!

... all on "your private road" of course!
I use the Castrol LSD oil - Hypoy LS.
About time I used the other half now and changed it...
Of course I should have said 'is geared for'... but that would be a lie.I use the Castrol LSD oil - Hypoy LS.

It was an indicated 103 at a Garmin 100 up the M69 with Rog the Tallbloke in the passenger seat coming back from the 'Fest a few years back that made me realise that not all TVR speedos tell porky pies
I'll settle for 3% error (it's actually 2mph/% up to about 80 - er, on that private road of course
)Now was that kph...
