US 280 Clutch slave
Discussion
Adam, ... as far as I know ....
Some early 2.8 were hydraulic clutch activated, and then TVR went to the cable clutch. There was a reference somewhere (the TVR books ?) that some/many of the US export cars went back to hydraulic clutch. The odd pics I've seen of the slave cyl look just like the Triumph 6 cylinder one (as above) - I had a few of those cars.
Cable clutch - Mine is a cable clutch.
As in a few threads here the design mod that TVR did for the cable is truly AWFUL, they modded the clutch pedal so it pushes the outer sheath, and has a fixed inner, which is the opposite of the intended use (as in Cortina/Granny etc).
Because of the way TVR did this mod, the cable inner tends to wear/break quite quickly.
It's weird actually, because the mod they did on the Vixen S3 for cable clutch works beautifully, is amazingly simple, and should work for the wedge.... I'm thinking of doing my wedge this way

I will take a look at my TR6 to see if the slave is the same as the 280i. My understanding was TVR had to go to hydraulic on left side drive cars because the pedal pressure was to high with a cable. My Vixen S2 had a hydraulic system, worked great and made it simple when I did the 3.5 conversion. My wedge cylinder is indeed just above the exhaust pipe. The two bracket bolts look more accessible than the cylinder mount bolts, any chance the bracket and cylinder can be slipped out without removing the exhaust?
Just a thought,
John
