Hi Peeps...Well today it was time to lube up the pods and motor armature..My N/S pod was sitting a bit low so i removed the headlamp undid the arm from the motor to the pod and adjusted it up a few turns..Now although the pod now sits a bit more flush with the body the light looks like its in the exact same place as it was before i did it?, There is no stop on the pod...The O/S has one but i think it needs to be bent down a bit as it sits flush when closed...Am i missing something?...Apart from the stop of course...Cheers...Ziga

Can you 'wiggle' the pod up and down a lot when it's up ?? That would indicate wear and so lost movement.
Does pod sit flush with body when it's down ??.

Adjusting those rods doesn't increase the overall difference between UP and DOWN, it just moves the pod so that both the up and the down pod positions will change. (I hope that makes sense...think about the rod and lever on the motor)

If the down position is correct, but the up position is too low, then you've not got enough movement on the motor lever arm - perhaps it's a bit short, or perhaps it's loose, or perhaps the motor switch is operating when motor isn't quite at the top of its travel ??? Get an assistant to switch headlamps on and off and see if pod goes up a bit more before going down.

You need to try to identify why that pod doesn't work right.....easy to say, but having a good close up watch and listen for odd noises etc. should help.

Hi Andy...There is no excessive movement when they are up..They do go up a little before going down and go down a little before going up!...I think i will leave them alone as they are not too bad...Put it this way they didn't fail an MOT....I have given them a lube on all the moving parts and used some electrical cleaner/Lube on the connector plugs...Cheers...Ziga

Mark, they look perfectly good to me. They work, and must be correctly adjusted as it passed the MOT, so what are you worried about? this is a TVR. Things are not meant to line up to perfection. If you want perfection, you buy a Bentley.

Thanks Tony...I know its a TVR and i know all about their "Imperfections"..Especially as i have a V-shaped gap in one side between the door and body...smile
Oh and i don't want a Bentley...As i was giving the pods their 6 monthly service i was attempting to level them up a bit..But as Elvis once sung.."Now and then, Theres a fool such as i"......So i think i will leave them alone now....Cheers..Ziga

IF you want to go further, then that comment would say to me that the motor isn't mounted quite at the right angle, as the pod should be right at the top when UP, and same for down. Sounds like motor needs rotating a little, or the connecting lever (on the motor) may have had it's slotted hole worn, or the spindle is bent, or the switch pins are slightly wrong.

Sounds like it's not a simple fix anyway. If motor works fine, I might be tempted to drill new holes in the motor mounting bracket....but that's just me.
