I Have Ordered A New Shiny Red Knob.
Discussion
The interior of my wedge is red and black/grey, and so I thought a shiny red knob would go well with the rest of the interior. It is in fact a red pool ball with threads tapped in at 5/16 UNC. It hasn't arrived yet, but when it does I shall replace it with the new red gear knob. With my previous wedge, I had one made of alloy, but it was cold to the touch in the winter, so hopefully this will feel warmer in my hand, and also look the part. Here is a before picture. The after picture will come when the knob arrives and I've fitted it. Opinions please!

Initially, I also thought that it might look a bit chavvy, but because the ball I've chosen is pure red with no other colours or numbers, I thought it would blend in well with the ammount of red in the car already.Tony. TCB.

New Year. New Knob. The red knob has now been fitted and tested. Feels good to the touch. Here is the picture. I know some people won't agree, but I think it goes well with the existing colour of the interior. Properly fitted and screwed on of course, none of this grub screw fitting lark.

Next job - the pesky door veneers?
The door veneer, only on one side, is now the only thing that lets the interior down. This is on my to do list, but I will wait until the outside spray work and decals are finished before I tackle that job. It's a door card off job so I want to wait until the weather improves a bit so as I can spend some time on it. Also, I need to find out who can re coat them for me as per original. All in good time.Tony. TCB.

Or you could use an iron on veneer and some guitar lacquer......Ziga

Thanks for that Mark. I will call them soon and have a chat. I would need to do both sides to match the colour, and although the drivers side is good there is a small section starting to lift. Also your suggestion of iron on veneer sounds interesting. Tell me a liitle more about this precedure. Where to buy veneer? Which guitar varnish? Spray or brush on? Etc. DIY would save me sending them away as I aways worry I may not get them back, and the wedge always seems to drive better when I do these jobs myself http://www.wickedcoatings.co.uk/sample-speed-shape...
