If you tap the throttle slightly does it settle back down? In which case check the cable ends for fraying and the general mechanism is oiled.

Is your car flapper or Hotwire?

If flapper then some simple questions first...

If it not a mechanical issue i.e. cable - pedal etc

  • Base idle at cold seems right, when you rev the car when cold does it go back to base cold idle with no issues?
Does this issue manifest itself when warm? Look for connections / operation of the engine temp sensor and Thermo time sensor.

  • Disconnect the 4CU and allow to reset (wait 30 secs) issue still there?
  • Check operation and cleanliness of the flapper take off the induction pipe and look at the operation - sticking?
Let us know how that goes for now

Chris

Do you have your cold start connected or disconnected? Or water temp sender could be faulty. I have had similar problems in the past and temp sender was cause, but mine does not like the coldstart runs like a dog when connected.

the only thing i have done a I month ago, I unscrew the pop and bangs nut at the back off engine, to get more off them,it was half way on screw, but took to the near end, maybe its letting more air into the engine now, as the spring will be weak,?????????????????????earsscratchchin

Tried that with mine and got the same symptoms - idle all over the place. Took it back to recommended position (5 full turns off of fully down - all good now smile
