Is My Wedge Shrinking? or Have I Put On Weight?

This is my sixth Wedge and I have never had problems with cabin space before. All my previous Wedges have been a nice comfortable fit with plenty of space to move around. In this Wedge however, when in I get in and shut the door, I'm wedged 
in, and can hardly move. I feel that if I take a deep breath the door is going to fling open. Thinking it was my imagination, I asked the Mrs, who is, and always has been a regular passanger to test ot the passanger seat, and came back with the same result. So, either the Wedge is shrinking, I have put on weight, or Wedges were ordered in different sizes from new, and this one is a small fit. Everything in the cabin looks identical to my previous Wedges and nothing is out of place. This was indeed a mystery, so I set about to give it a more close examination. The center console is the same size and shape, the seat too looks the same, so it had to be the door card. Although this looks exactly the same as any other Wedge door card, and in very good condition, it seems to be a lot wider. The thing is, I can't work out why. When the weather improves, I'm going to whip them off for further examination and see how and why this is. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Or are all our Wedge drivers so slim that they never noticed?

Well i did warn you about eating those peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...I know you use wholemeal bread and olive oil based marg but the peanut butter is NOT low fat!...
Mind you i have to agree with you..Mine seems a bit of a squash compared to the 280i..No elbow room in the 350i, They got it right in the SEAC's .....Slimmer transmission tunnel...Cut out in the door card and a more comfy Montego seats..So much better...

Well in all honesty, I had been aware of the tight cabin from day one when I bought the car from Dave, but I liked the car so much that somehow I thought I would grow into it. Rather like a new pair of leather shoes that you know hurt your feet, but you like them so much you still carry on wearing them hoping they will stretch and take the shape of your feet. Only now, its occured to me that I should do something about it, as not only has it not stretched, but its getting tighter as I put on more weight (extra muscles from over indulging in gym. Not fat). Sitting in the cabin with the door shut, I can hardly move. At this rate, those sissor doors I was talking about earlier are going to be a necessity rather than a fantasy. Yes, I'm convinced there is something odd about the door cards. They are fatter than usual, and so they take up room in the cabin. I am 14.5 stone and I think anyone heavier than me sitting in the drivers seat won't be able to shut the door. I need to sort this out before the summer, before the posing begins. This could seriously cramp my style. I like to put my shades on, stick my arm out over the door whilst sitting sideways in the drivers seat as I cruise along the high street. Soon, I wont be able to shut the door, let alone anything else. It has to be sorted, and soon.

I think we've just found a new BBWF competition. A few pints and let's see who can't close the door. I'm sure all comments will be positive and supportive to those that can't quite squeeze in.KKson said:

Or better still...Whilst under the influence in the safe environment of a hired car park with no keys in the ignition... Whilst in the driving position, Once they are able to close the door.. See who can retrieve a folded ten pound note from their rear O/S trouser pocket with their right hand..Any leaning forward or sideways movement..Which will be monitored with a laser thermometer..is an instant fail...If you can get it then you keep it...Well at least until we get back to the bar......Actually we could also use the DB meter to see who moans and mumbles the loudest attempting this challenge....
PS: SEAC's are banned from this challenge...Sorry guys....

Depends on what you're offering. Everything has a price ;-)No. Its not for sale and won't be anytime soon. I love this car. It's one of my favorite colours both inside and out. I will improve it to near perfection then hopefuly enjoy. Good ones are getting hard to find. Unless of course my numbers come up. If that happens, who knows. Tuscan, SEAC, 450????? The list goes on.
