Hi all, I've got a new rear oil seal ready for fitting on Monday but from previous advice fitting new seals to the diff is not quite so easy due to the pre-load. My local garage has suggested trying Lucas transmission fix. It sounds clever stuff but would it be detrimental in the PowerLok diff? Has anyone ever tried it? Cheers.

My experience of putting anything other than LSD oil in the diff was not good - I made some silver paint in not many miles. Luckily I checked it soon after and replaced with LSD oil - no problems since.

Okay I'll avoid. Seal rebuild kit on the way from ML Performance.

as long as you mark the nut and shaft, and count the turns, and return the the same position as before, you should not need to pre-load the diff.

I am not a big fan of such products, it is not uncommon for them to have agents in them to swell seals so they don't leak - I don't recall if Lucas does or does not have such an ingredient.

What I do know is that it may stop some leaks, but it couldn't stop itself from leaking!!!
