Hello, I originally posted this in the general TVR topics but was suggested that someone in the more specific wedge group might be able to shed some light. So I'm hoping for some enlightenment!!!!!!

We are working on a 1985 TVR 350I with a body of restoration. The chassis needs the usual outrigger repairs but considerably more now that the body is off and the chassis has been cleaned to reveal numerous areas that need attention. We are in Canada and I've searched for links that might have new chassis available if we need to go that route. I have found nothing! Does anyone know if anyone is remanufacturing wedge chassis? It does have to be for a V8 as they are different (wider) than the V6. It doesn't matter if it's for left hand or right hand drive. This has the early rear suspension but if only the later rear suspension models are available we could use that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John

ps: we have started on restoring this chassis as it seems doubtful we can get a new one. I hope someone might be able to prove me wrong......keep smiling.

I dont believe anyone makes a replacement chassis for the wedge cars
try contacting some of the salvage yards in the UK that specialises in tvrs if you can't repair the original

Sadly I don't think a replacement wedge chassis was ever made. So, its repair was you have.

John, I posted pretty much the latest info on your other thread ...Duncan has the 3 jigs, I gifted him the component parts (factory original parts) but got given them back, (I did the same, but with drawings of the later V8S/ S Series chassis which has progressed) as there was nothing going on (no one wanted one) value wise to get the jigs out and refurbish them. I have sent out parts to other to help them refurbish there own chassis and Steve Charlesworth had a set to create a set of drawings from my parts, (I have not heard from him on this).
I mentioned the two critical points ARB breaking the front (a factory 'non' recall that dealers were adding tubes to brace the bracket that USA cars would never get anyway) and the inherent twist in the chassis jig (and the plastic spacers required to force/preload the spring (I changed to ride height adjustable shocks as I have my own corner weight scales).
When I refurbish my out riggers (which unlike your are oblong tubes, as it is a SEAC chassis) I will be adding 15mm folds to each of the body support plates (and plasma cutting the 15mm to 3mm) as the shell is so heavy it is falling through the plates.

Steve, I am trying my best to get my cars done and Duncan is making a new Vixen body shell made for me. IF I chase him on Wedge stuff, it may be that he might pause on my stuff to get that done. (I am 99% sure that there are 3 jigs there across the range 81 on, and This is not as simple as saying I just need that one and popping it on trailer ...these are somewhat heavy, all before the work to refurbish one of/them ready to be used). This what I posted about it previously...it is relevant but not relevant.

The chassis pictured is a Grantura 2a Torsion bar chassis, with a LHD Ford Anglia steering box (RHD car)...truly as simple a TVR chassis ever made (brazed originally) 4 tubes need reaming and a maybe 10 brackets need to be created.
That said, as they will be copying the original chassis, the owner will not draw down on a TVR knowledge-able person in 2a chassis.
The chassis has added corner shell plates to make the car a bolt on shell, but not used the VW Torsion Bar Adjuster, which has a two part toothed boss to set the suspension heights.
IMHO any fabrication workshop can (should be able to) copy things. A@

As I mentioned these are originally brass gas brazed and the art of originality and repair of these leads you to Tig Sifsilcopper brazing. BUT, the 4 centre torsion bar tubes require reaming as the internals the 4 tubes bloom and I doubt that just ANY fabrication shop, would want to invest in a reamer to finish the job. (I got gifted one from a guy who need to buy one after a poor repair). A@
