White Elephant Quarterlights

Would someone please be so kind as to measure the rear quarterlight side windows in their Tasmin FHC and tell me what they find..

I'm looking to replace the perspex quarterlights in the White Elephant (when we get that far...)and am hoping that, as the rear window is a standard Tasmin part, the side rear quarterlights will be too!

It would be best to make a stencil - using a large piece of paper - then sent it on to wedge man.

York33 & Kevsmev & rjf all have 2.8i FHC models..

Is the quater light the same on the series 1 tasmins and the series 2 280i's?

also if I do a sketch, can you read AutoCAD dwg/dxf files? If not i'l do a screen dump.

Rev you naughty boy - you forgot me! As you should know I am also a Series 1 2.8i FHC owner

Do you think that I've added enough icons there?

I came out with the same measurements as York33, except for the height, which I measured as 305mm. Don't know why there is a difference though? I measured the glass itself as best as I could. Also there may be a difference because mine is a Series 1, where Dave's is a Series 2 2+2.

But I've corrected my records now - had you both down as just 280i

I'm starting to feel like a TVR model register now

Thinking about it, they may be a subtle difference between the originals and the series 2 cars, if you crudely think of the difference between the two as the body moved relative to the chassis, to get the rear boot glass pillars to meet correctly at the B-post, 5mm may be all thats needed.

It all makes more sense with me flaping my arms about in a "like this" fashion...DOH......where's a web cam when you need one!

Right Dave - a variation on a theme!...



The upright measurement is similar - and in fact could be the same thing depending on parameters - but the length is very different.

Anyone else got odd sized Wedge FHC quarterlights - or indeed anything similar to this?

Oh - you hadn't put a copyright on your piccy had you Dave?

Yes.

Also, dunno whether you know, but the rear screen demister is supposed to act as a radio aerial to keep the exerior uncluttered. There's a red tubular 'Bifi' filter unit hidden behind the o/s side panel behind the driver's seat. It allows the element to take DC but also pass RF to the radio.
Ford spent a fortune on a research project for (IIRC) the Orion (or may have been Sierra) to do the same thing, which is why those cars had odd elements that meandered about the glass: they were trying to create tuned lengths that were optimal for the radio bands...
yet still the owners went and drilled holes in the wings...

Yes, I know about the aerial, just that I've not bothered with a radio so far, as it seems superfluous,

I've run the car a few times during its layup, kept meaning to take it for a spin (round a test track, ahem...) but not got round to it.

Yes, this weather is maddening,isn't it. Might be ok Sunday though.

I've taken my car out virtually every other day this last month, but I'm always loathe to leave it turned off anywhere for long, due to the still unpredictable re-starts when warm.
Just yesterday I got a s/hand ignition module in the post, which I bought off ebay for a tenner. I'll try substituting it.
Useful spare anyway.

Keeping my options open regarding the car.
If I see the right Cosworth with decent engine I'll probably go for the transplant (hence me not doing much fiddling with this one), and then again, there are so many mouthwatering BBWs up for sale at present...hmmm.

I had as it happens and I require compensating for the damages and trauma you have caused me, I reckon Nelly the Wedge would just about cover it. I can let you have my address and if you could leave her in my garage please

The length is definitely out of measuring tolerances for mine, I hope she does share it with a less rare breed of Wedge.....
