Coach Lines

I need to replace some coach lines due to a reversing incident in my driveway (not me!) Luckily there was no other damage.

1. It it that 3M stuff that you use - can you still get it? Mine are dark blue.

2. How do you apply it so it's nice and straight, not wobbly? (Answers like "lay off the beer for a week beforehand" will be treated with the contempt they deserve!)

I am sure I have seen something on the Frost web site. Sort of applies the tape as you follow the body line. Can't seem to find it there.

When I had my respray done the local van vinyl sign writting company made them up for me and fitted, cost for full set £55.00 and worth every penny.

I got a real in my local shop made by Trillogy Ltd. There is a phone number on it 01280 822865.
7.5mm x 10m Twin Stripe real cost about £4 if I remember.

Ask your mate to make up two sets in blue! Mine is a silver dhc with blue stripes and the gatepost attacked the side last year when backing out - no n/s door mirror and it was raining is my excuse. Come to think of it a complete cover up with vinyl would be a cheap re-spray!!SeriouslyI need a set and will willingly pay my share if it is possible. David Harrison.

Oh I'm buying the strips ready-made. I just need someone with experince to stick 'em on.

Apparently "Stripes 7.5mm Mini Twin Gold" have a part number of either 5019705052042 or S204 or 8002575540.

If they are 10m you are welcome to the 7m I'll have left over!

Unfortunately the blue ones are too light, and that's the only blue colour they do.

The "7.5mm twin" range is otherwise a perfect match, dimensionally.

Halfords should have what you are looking for. Its an easy job to do. Use a hairdryer to get the old stuff off and just follow the seam along the body in short spacings...

Just had a lookat the ones in Halfrauds, somethning like "Stylestick". The dimensions are not a good match, and the range of colours is very poor. No sign of any navy blue ones.

Having looked around the varous wedges at BBWF I now realise that there are as many styles of coach lines as there were friday afternoons spent down the pub by the purchasing guy at the factory in the '80's!

So there is no definitive answer to this one. 3M still, in my opinion, do the best range you are likely to see, and cater for most of the styles on wedges. However, their stuff is only available in the States.

So - I am dropping my plans to import coach lines, there are just too many different styles and colours, I'd never sell more than a car's worth off any one reel.
