Some of you may have read of the demise of my Esprit... or at any rate its engine.
Much as I like the Lotus twin-cam it's a bit of a horror as regards parts cost; spare ones in good nick are like scruples on a politician (rare ;) ) and a broken engine has been known to effectively write the car off - as is perhaps the case here.
I have several options: stick it on Ebay 'as is' and take whatever I can get; spend whatever it costs to effect as few repairs as necessary to get it running again and flog it quick; take the proper road and spend whatever it costs to fix it correctly, then flog it quick - but almost certainly at a huge loss; drop a Rover V8 in :hehe: and sell it quick, probably at a loss but with less hassle than fixing the twincam.
As it happens I have a spare carbed RV8 on a trolley in the garage and more than enough bits to fit fuel injection to it (I know the cam would be 'wrong').
All I need (ahem) is a distributor, flywheel, exhaust manifolds and silencer, some pipes, a Fairy liquid bottle and a pair of Lesley's old knickers... :hehe:

I've a P6 engine virtally complete in the garage, plus alsorts of RV8 odds and sods (mostly SD1 vintage) drop me a line with what you need and i'll try to bring them to BBWF, alternatively give Hugh Chambers a call, i can collect bits for you and deliver them to BBWF (I'm always getting bits for our SD1's off him)
If you need any more info about the V8 coversion, theres a bloke locally who's just dropped a V8 into his Elite, i can dig out his details for you if you want
Regards
Iain

Cheers Iain: the Elite is a completely different kettle of worms (front engine; Lotus gearbox casting, Maxi internals
) but I have browsed a couple of websites of folk who've done Elites and Eclats. I've had stuff from Hugh before; he's currently on the lookout for a cruise control for me. I got some SD1 tail-lamps from him as spares for the Esprit but they went walkabout in the post...
Wedg1e Wedg1e Wedg1e. Its along shot but I saw a Esprit On Sunday ON ITS ROOF in a ditch along side Market Drayton By Pass near Muller Dairy. It looked like it had rolled several times it was / is red but I have no other details. Maybe someone on here could find it for you Looking at the state it was in the engine could be one of the few things you could salvage from it
If I can help I will, Good Luck

I'll keep an eye out at the local North Shropshire breakers eg Furbers, also thats the sort of thing Car Transplants would go for.

I supplied various induction parts for a 5.2 Rover V8 Esprit, the conversion was done by RPI engineering, they might be useful for some of the conversion parts.

How about a wildcat 6ltr Rover based solution

You know you want too..
:dribble:
There is a slight difference in the level of engineering ability going on here: this is my level
:-
However, as a sign I once saw at a steelworks said, there is no such thing as insignificant improvement...
