Petrol pump - current rating?

Anyone know off-hand the current draw of an average fuel injection pump?

I'm doing some evening work on the Wedge and was wiring it up but might be short of appropriate cable......

Wouldn't be surprised if it was 6-8A under load...

The fuse is 20A so you should cable for that.

Also its quite a long run of cable, the original is one of the heaviest cables on the car, so over size the cable to take into account the extra resistance in the wire due to the length of cable.

Spot on.
The fuse's job is to protect the cable in case of overload and not (as many think) to protect what's on the end of the cable.

That's alright, still under the cable rating I used in the end. Figure it's an improvement on what previously looked like bellwire
