Leather cleaner/ conditioner

Can anyone recommend a good leather cleaner and conditioner.

I know Zymol do a seperate cleaner and conditioner. Langs leather dresser is recommended on the wedge pages. Has anyone used both and can offer a comparision/recommendation?

No - but I've used saddle soap - OK for light dirt and seems to moisturise as well.

Also Woolstenholme's reconellising kits come with a cleaner - this stuff is brilliant for heavy dirt but does take off some of the paint. It seems to be an ammonia plus detergent combination, so you could try making some yourself.

I have used Gliptone 'Liquid Leather' cleaner & conditioner - always been happy with it & it does make it smell like 'new' leather.

However, I always used it on seats in VGC - not sure how it would fair on heavily worn/cracked leather

(they also do restoration & repair kits aswell, including a service where you cut a piece of leather from a inconspicuous place under the seat as a sample, send it to them & the mix up the dye exactly to the colour)

I've tried the Zymol leather cleaner (Halfords about £10 ish..) and it's OK but I've found something much muck beter..

It's Cif kitchen power cleaner - lemon.

I kid you not .. I just did my emtire leather interior last weekend and it's brilliant. I do make sure to wash it off with water after though..

It's fantastic at cutting thru the old dirt and especially grease..

I tried it back to back with Zymol and it was much better.

I finished off with a coat of zymol leather treat after it had dried for a while..

I used JIF as well (determined not to bow to regional marketing naming conventions!).

You MUST finish off with a good leather feed, as the JIF will dry out and damage the leather. Also if you rub too hard with a cloth it will take the top surface off the leather! especially if it has been previously re-dyed, this comes straight off.

I presume the leather cleaners/conditioners/cif are all okay to use on the vinyl as well?

Bought some "teleshopping stuff" (I really need to get back to work) and it really works - takes off the dirt and doesn't effect the colouring etc. Called Bosun - available from yes661.com. The rejuvenator doesn't work very well mind - best to stick with the Gliptone leather feed stuff.

Saddle soap does also give that authentic leather smell.
