Took the wedge for it's MOT this morning. Left early at 7.45am so I could catch the commuter train back and take my other car for it's MOT as well. Going over the hill road to Ilkley, the car starts cutting out, so I pull over and the engine dies. Steam is emanating from under the bonnet. :yikes:
Quick exam reveals the flat cap on top of the swan neck has let go and coolant has pissed all over the dizzy cap, alternator, and leads. :rolleyes:
Let it all steam off for a minute, release the header tank cap and turn the key. She restarts :bounce:
Down to to MOT station in Ilkley, negotiate a good price on some new rears (at last Rev :)) and run for the train.
Get the other car through it's MOT (after lots of fannying around with their new computerized MOT system not recognising my chassis number :furious:), and get home to ring round for a new swan neck cap.
No joy. :(
Ring TVRcarparts.com and Neil asks, "is it the type with the spring or the flat one?"
"The flat one"
"Oh dear, we haven't been able to get any"
:weeping:
"But I'll send you a second hand one to get you to BBWF and we'll swap it for a new one as soon as we can find some"
:bounce::bounce::bounce:
Thanks Neil, you are a star. :D

When mine let go a while ago I took the old one into my local motor factor, he promptly stated what code it was and within the hour he has a new one for me!!
Just checked in the garage and I have thrown the box away so I dont have the code, but I think it was either a QC or QH product. I have taken it off and unfortunately there are no identifying marks.
